Frequently Asked Questions
Does this tool send my text to a server?
Yes — the text is sent to our servers to compute the counts and the result is returned to you; we don't store the content itself.
Does the character count include spaces?
Both totals are shown — character count with spaces and without — so you can use whichever limit applies to you.
How is reading time calculated?
At roughly 200 words per minute, a common average adult silent-reading speed — treat it as a useful estimate rather than an exact figure.
What counts as a sentence or paragraph?
Sentences are counted by splitting on periods, question marks and exclamation points, so unusual abbreviations can occasionally shift the count by one. Paragraphs are counted by blank lines between blocks of text.
Is there a text length limit?
No hard limit for typical use — very long documents may take a moment longer to process.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes — completely free, with no signup required.
