BMR Calculator
Calculate Basal Metabolic Rate and daily caloric needs
BMR Calculator estimates your Basal Metabolic Rate, the calories your body burns at complete rest just to keep breathing, circulating blood and maintaining temperature, using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula: 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age, plus 5 for men or minus 161 for women.

Everything you need to know about BMR
What is BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories your body burns at complete rest just to maintain basic functions — breathing, circulation, cell repair — before accounting for any activity at all.
An important note
BMR is estimated from standard formulas based on age, sex, height, and weight — actual metabolism varies by individual, so treat this as a reference point rather than a precise measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is BMR, exactly?
The calories your body uses just to stay alive at rest — breathing, circulation, maintaining temperature — before any movement or activity is counted. For most people it's the largest share of total daily calorie burn.
Why does the formula need my age and sex?
Resting metabolism naturally declines with age and differs on average between men and women, mainly due to differences in typical muscle mass; the formula's age and sex terms adjust for that.
Is this my full daily calorie burn?
No — BMR is calories at complete rest only. For your estimated total daily burn including activity, use the Calorie Calculator, which applies an activity multiplier on top of this BMR figure.
Does this tool send my numbers to a server?
Yes — your figures are sent to our servers to compute the result and the result is returned to you; we don't store the values.
Is this medical advice?
No. This is a general estimate, not medical advice — speak to a doctor or registered dietitian about your own calorie or health needs.
