Image Resizer
Resize images to any dimension while preserving aspect ratio
Image Resizer changes an image to exact dimensions you specify, with 5 fit modes controlling exactly how it adapts: crop to fill, fit within without cropping, stretch to match, or constrain to only shrink or only grow from the original size.

Everything you need to know about resizing images
What does resizing actually change?
Resizing changes an image's pixel dimensions — its width and height — without necessarily changing its format or compression. This is different from compressing, which shrinks file size at the same dimensions by adjusting quality instead.
When you actually need this
- Meeting an exact size requirement — a profile photo, a banner ad, a platform's upload spec.
- Reducing file size by shrinking dimensions for images that don't need to be shown at full resolution.
- Preparing consistent thumbnails across a set of images.
Understanding the "fit" options
| Fit mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cover | Fills the target size exactly, cropping any excess |
| Contain | Fits entirely within the target size, may add empty space |
| Fill | Stretches to the exact target size, may distort proportions |
| Inside / Outside | Shrinks or grows only, preserving the original aspect ratio |

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the fit modes?
Cover crops the image to completely fill the target size. Contain fits the whole image inside the target without cropping, which may leave empty space. Fill stretches the image to match exactly, which can distort it. Inside only shrinks an oversized image, never enlarging it. Outside only grows an undersized image, never shrinking it.
Which fit mode should I use for a profile photo or thumbnail?
Cover is usually right for a fixed-size thumbnail or avatar, since it fills the frame completely without any distortion or empty space.
Will resizing up make a small image sharper?
No — enlarging an image can only interpolate existing pixels, not add real detail, so a small source image will look soft when scaled up. Start from the highest-resolution original you have.
