Everything you need to know about Open Graph tags
What are Open Graph tags?
Open Graph tags are meta tags (originally created by Facebook, now used across most social platforms) that control how a link looks when it's shared — the preview image, title, and description shown in the post, instead of whatever a platform guesses by scraping the page.
When you actually need this
- Every page you expect to be shared on social media — without these tags, shares often show a broken or irrelevant preview.
- Controlling the exact preview image, rather than letting a platform pick the first image it finds on the page.
OG tags vs. Twitter Card tags
Most platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp) read Open Graph tags directly; X/Twitter has its own separate Twitter Card tags, which fall back to Open Graph values if present but support a few Twitter-specific options — most sites include both.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this also handle Twitter/X previews, or do I need a separate tool?
This one tool covers both — it automatically adds matching twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description and twitter:image tags alongside the Open Graph tags, using the summary_large_image card type.
What does the "type" field control?
It sets og:type, which tells platforms what kind of content the page is (website, article, product, etc.) — it defaults to "website" if you don't set anything.
What happens if I leave a field blank?
Only the fields you fill in are included in the output — there's no placeholder or default text inserted for empty fields.
Does this tool send my inputs to a server?
Yes — they're sent to our servers to build the tags and the result is returned to you; nothing is stored.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes — completely free, with no signup required.
